Neymar Signs Two-Year Contract with Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal

Brazilian Superstar Leaves Paris Saint-Germain

Move Marks Growing Trend of Top Players Joining Saudi League

London, August 21, 2023 - Neymar has become the latest high-profile footballer to join the Saudi Arabian Pro League, signing a two-year contract with Al-Hilal after six successful seasons with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The move, worth a reported €86 million, marks a significant departure for the 31-year-old forward, who has been one of the most recognisable and marketable players in the world throughout his career.

Neymar's decision to leave PSG comes after a six-year spell in Paris, during which time he won a host of domestic trophies, including four Ligue 1 titles and three Coupe de France titles. However, despite his individual success, the team was unable to win the coveted UEFA Champions League, which has eluded Neymar since his days with Barcelona.

Al-Hilal will be hoping that Neymar can help them break their duck in the Champions League, as they look to establish themselves as a major force in Asian football. The Saudi club's recent signings also include former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo and ex-Chelsea midfielder Gustavo Cuellar, as they continue to attract top talent from around the globe.

Neymar's move is the latest in a growing trend of top players joining the Saudi Pro League. In recent years, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and Gonzalo Higuain have all signed for Saudi clubs, lured by lucrative contracts and the prospect of helping to raise the profile of the league.
